FRIDAY’S FIND (ON MONDAY): EAMES-STYLE LOUNGE CHAIR + OTTOMAN April 30, 2012 In the midst of a random outing on Friday I stumbled across this super vintage, Eames-style Lounge Chair & Ottoman. And I hate to toot my own horn but I have to say, I have a pretty darn good eye for sourcing vintage furniture. Now clearly it wasn’t in perfect condition–the wood could use some conditioning and the vinyl/pleather had seen some better days–but this is one of those items that people really have a thing for, especially if they love Mid-Century Modern furniture. I’ve seen a few pretty sweet reupholstery jobs across the web (here and here), but I didn’t have the time, or more specifically desire, to do one here so my plan was to list it in the shop…but it sold this weekend before I even had a chance to get it done! It’s funny because originally I planned to use an Eames (or more realistically, Plycraft) Lounger in my living room, but then found some pretty cool vintage slipper chairs and my plans changed (or moreover, came together). Funny how that always seems to happen with me…I start out wanting one thing, but generally end up in a totally different direction (wait until you see my guest bedroom plans!). Anyhow, I’m thankful it went to someone who was excited to give it life again. And speaking of my living room, I finally settled on a rug I love which imparts the exact feel and vibe I was going for. Can’t wait to see the rug and guest bedroom plans! Reply Terry April 30, 2012 at 8:49 am (7 years ago) Please allow me to re-toot your horn: You have a pretty darn good eye. I’m happy that you found this a good home. Reply Bernadette @ B3hd May 2, 2012 at 6:53 pm (7 years ago) I found one of these without the ottoman. Loved that thing a little too much and almost went the recover (or maybe even paint route). Then I realized I needed to get the mechanics of the chair fixed first and so it’s sat in the spare room for close to forever. All to say, though, that I MIGHT have almost hurt someone at the thrift store when he thought he was going to get that $12 chair instead of me. Over my dead body (smile).
