I LOVE THRIFTING: WRAP UP

So I lied a bit when I said my post would be up Tuesday, but I have a really good excuse that you’ll know more about next week! Anyhow, after the big rush of the last few days I’m finally feeling a bit back to normal…

We had a great group of ladies come out & join us for the Atlanta I<3 Thrifting group, and I can only say that it was a great success! The majority of the people in the group I actually didn’t know prior to Saturday’s event, so I was great meeting new faces and seeing which items caught each person’s eye. We had a group of about 17 comprised of fashion bloggers, decor bloggers, non-bloggers and even a HGTV exec who was sweet enough to make sure we took some group shots (thanks again for coming, Anna)!

Carla of Decorativity found this vintage glass Chinoiserie-esque lamp at our first stop!

Tami & Kerrie debated the merits of this gold sequined jacket…
Lynn packed her basket with lots of clothing goodies…
And everyone walked away with something–most had several bags full!
Niki found some cute vintage silver glitter shoes that she ended up not getting. They fit her little feet like a glove!
And I found this old dresser with some great hardware (didn’t end up getting it) and an amazing lamp that’s now available for sale! This is one of my favorite thrifting spots–where other people see junk, I see hours of unbridled joy!
The day was a fun departure from my usual shopping alone, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the idea borne from Rashon Carraway (Mr. Goodwill Hunting). I also put together few  Thrifting 101 tips for our group on how to get the best deals and score the best finds. Don’t miss my 11 tips that will change the way you go thrifting–I’ll be sharing them on Friday!

So great! So sad to have missed it. Do you know if anyone did the Bay Area in CA after all ?

I LOVE that lamp! I’m really good at thrifting for clothes, but I’m learning so much from you about thrifting for home goods and furniture. I’m dying for the lamp you found!

Brass is something that I’m loving right now after seeing it so much in The Brick House Blog (like the brass chest here http://www.the-brick-house.com/2010/09/4255/).

I had a great time thrifting here in Cinci!!! I’m just enjoying your blog so much.

Awesome wrapup of a super fun day! You and Erika did such a great job leading us around the city. I commented on Erika’s blog as well that my mom made a cute Facebook status about how much fun she had and how impressed she was with the kindness of my design friends πŸ™‚

Also I’d like to add that in the picture where I’m staring intently at Niki and her shoes, I’m most likely trying to talk her into buying them. I am always thrifty, but almost never the person that discourages people from buying stuff. Sometimes it’s fun to be the devil on the shoulder πŸ™‚

I had so much fun! Usually I’m alone when thrifting so it was cool to see what others saw that I overlooked. Can’t wait for the next one πŸ™‚
