PATTERN PLAY

I loved hearing your feedback on the fabric schemes I’ve selected for my latest clients (here and here) and since I have a ton of fabric samples in my office (and am always throwing concepts together) I thought it would be fun to do it again this week…and maybe even make it a series. These concepts won’t always be for clients, but they will give you a peek at the patterns I love and a little insight into how I like to mix & match. There’s no one right way, but I’ll show you my way. And if you see something you love, just send me an email–yardage (and pillows/drapery) are available through Dayka Robinson Designs.

So today, I’m starting with a new pattern that I recently found & absolutely love. (1) It’s a modern take on a traditional floral and what I’d use as my lead fabric in multi-color scheme (reminds me a bit of Schumacher’s Chiang Mai). In a bedroom, I’d use this fabric for Euro pillows (which I love to see on beds & always use).
(2) This leopard print is a bit unexpected but the perfect print to use on a vintage club chair with contrasting (salmon) piping. This could also be amazing as drapery with contrast piping, in which case I’d make #5 the chair fabric.
(3) Celerie Kemble’s Betwixt is one of my favorite prints right now and here I’d use it for two mini bolsters in front of the Euros.
(4) Ticking stripe drapery!
(5) Chair toss pillow
If you liked this post, let me know–I’ll make it a weekly thing!

Girl we are so on the same wave length! That Robert Allen Floral is whats sitting in my dining now-and what got me on the coral train for the dining room. Love it with the betwixt (such a fabric work horse).

I always love these posts – love to see what’s brewing with other designers and what they’re excited about. And I love the leopard paired with the floral – what a great mix. And Betwixt is such a great choice too – it’s a favorite of mine as well. I’ve also been obsessed with the small dotted fabric from John Robshaw’s Duralee line – has become a favorite small print.
