MORE IMAGES FROM MY ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION PHOTOSHOOT

Yup, that's my sister's bedroom, designed & styled by moi. When I was first contacted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to submit images of spaces I designed that did double-duty, hers was the first that came to mind. The great thing about being a stylist and designer is that I always have tons of stuff at my house--enough that my family can essentially come over and "shop my house" if need be. And when it comes time to whip up a few interior makeovers for my kinfolk, I love nothing more than searching my closets, car (yes, car) and garage for special pieces among my styling stash (remember these chairs here?). Furniture, light fixtures, lamps, accessories & case-pieces--I have it all!

But I digress. As someone who works from home and frequently entertains with dinner parties and out-of-town guests, my sister's master bedroom served as a great place to carve out some additional work space when guests are in town. Even though she's in an apartment, she's used to NYC living where tenants are allowed to paint (and pretty much do as they please), so we painted a black accent wall and relied on textiles and accessories for an added pop of color. I think she'd agree that sleeping in a room this stylish makes apartment living fun...but I wanna know, what say you??

Congratulations, Dayka. That room looks fantastic - and I plan to use that West Elm bedding in my own bedroom. Love the colors, too!

Wow! Purple has been growing on me lately - just as touches as you have it here & mixed with white and deep gray. And that gold lamp is to die for awesome!

Hi! I just came over from Cris's tulip table post...this room is gorgeous!! The brass lamp puts me over the edge in love. I don't like purple but I love this room. I'll be pinning this one. :-)

The room looks fantastic! Great job. The stools at the end of the bed are my favorite and the black wall.

Oh Dayka, it's absolutely beautiful! One of my favorite bedrooms I've seen lately. I love how sleek it looks but also fun, playful, and colorful. The ikat on the coverlet and the pillows - I'm in love!!! That looks like maybe a Quadrille fabric on the pillows and they are so pretty. Your sister must be in heaven in this room. Not to mention how pretty and stylish (and more importantly functional) her bedside/desk area is. Wonderful work Dayka, it's fabulous!!!!

I am biased! Purple is my all time favorite color so that purple pop sets it off. I love the workspace. as a teacher and graduate student I often times find myself in my bedroom working! That is a wonderful idea! I am gonna hit you up this summer for some a styling session! My townhome needs some work! lol Five years in and still have the move in paint colors on the wall! Dont judge me!

Hey Kelley, I tried to email you but your email isn't linked to your blogger account! The sheets were from Marshall's. If you're looking for something similar, try HSN.com, lands end, Serena & Lily or Z Gallerie.
